With my decorative lighting, my designs and materials combine to produce a warm, unpredictable light. The designs themselves evoke subtle memories - memories of comfort and passion; memories of a bygone era. Modern and classic elements subtly combine to create a timeless quality. As most of my designs incorporate the suggestion of burning torches or emerging botanical life, one is most likely drawn to them initially because of their natural balance and visual movement. Mere interest gives way to fascination as one discovers that light literally transforms the lampshade, producing dramatic shadows which accentuate and punctuate the design. Further examination causes the observer to honestly question the validity of their assumptions as they discover a WOOD lampshade uncharacteristically taking on a role most often reserved for glass or paper! Perhaps they'll want to touch the wood (just to be sure…), or perhaps they will be looking for the switch to turn it on/off. Invariably though, childlike wonder is spontaneously expressed as the observer accidentally stumbles upon the touch switch which cleanly unites modern technology with age-old function.

By leading someone through this series of discoveries, both visual and tactile, I cause them to connect with the quality of light that I create, a light which evokes a subconscious emotional response. With each new discovery, perspective is altered - long held assumptions are called into question.
